Today’s post has been months in the making. It all started when I stumbled upon one of the most stylish Instagram photos ever. A group of black men who represent The New Sterotype were walking down a NYC street looking oh so dapper. They had this impeccable style and undeniable boss swag. I just KNEW I had to recreate a female version.

It’s no secret that women have reputations for being catty, irrationally competitive and not happy to see each another succeed. I want to shatter that notion. The world needs to see that a group of fabulous, strong and intelligent women from all walks of life can come together and “slay”. So I reached out to some of my favorite fellow bloggers. One thing led to another and Empowerment Exchange: Slaying in the Streets was born. We selected fall ready frocks from Refinery Consignment that suited our personal senses of style.

Some of us were already friends and others didn’t meet until shoot day. However we posed closely in the Downtown Dallas streets… held hands, chatted and savored each moment. You could feel bonds being formed. We developed levels of respect for each other that you just don’t find amongst women everyday. Especially those in similar fields who at times compete for the same gigs.

When women support each other, we are truly a force to be reckoned with. Be on the look out for more from Empowerment Exchange. Also be sure to check the individual posts and blogs of my fellow girl bosses! You’ll be glad you did!
