RIO RITZ BOUTIQUE COMES TO UPTOWN
Top: Macys Old/Skirt/Bag on Sale/Shoes: Similar/Bracelets: Jcrew, Stella & Dot/Necklace
Brace yourselves Dallas, you’ve just found your new favorite budget friendly gem!
I’ve been anticipating this day for months and now the wait is finally over. I get the chance to attend the soft opening of Rio Ritz Boutique’s first brick and mortar store. Nestled in the perfectly manicured retail neighborhood of Uptown Dallas, Rio Ritz far surpasses my expectations. I arrive to review and (of course) shop. However, it feels like stepping into the home of a longtime girlfriend. This is not only because its’ an old beautiful house turned into retail eye candy.
I’ve followed the store and owner on Instagram but this is my first time meeting her in person. The sweet and warm Thais Moses greets me at the door with a smile and hug. I let my eyes scan the exposed rooms before spotting a wine station. True to form, I excitedly comment on the fact that the “Wine” sign looks like it was hung to stay. To which, Thais smiles and says “Yes, there will always be wine here.”
So I graciously except a glass of Pinot Grigio from one of the fabulously clad associates before touring the rooms. Each is decorated with a feminine yet, rustic feel. The racks are adorned with Boho-Chic frocks that have just the right touches of glamour. I find silky solids, lady like leopards and fresh Aztec prints. I also gasp when I spot touches of blinged out items sprinkled throughout the store.
While checking out I ask Thais to sum up the feel of her store. Her eyes affectionately dance to the ceiling before she lights up and responds, “Free People had a baby, and it’s me”! I couldn’t agree more. Except when it comes to her affordable price tags. Rio Ritz items are within the $25-$75 range which is definitely something she has over Free People.
I scored some great items, that will make their debuts to the blog very soon. In the meantime, head over tomorrow for the Grand Opening. There will be mimosas, tunes and this necklace for the first 20 who spend over $40.

I am really loving the menswear inspired fashion that continues to grace shops for Spring. Regretfully I often have to pass because the structured look doesn’t tend to flatter curves as dangerous as mine. However, this vest from Zara lends sharp clean lines in the front while allowing airy movement in the back.
I can’t wait to toss it over almost everything in my closet. I see it working with the look I’m sporting today as well as over a fitted dress or with dressy tanks and white shorts.
What trends have you been reluctant to try and why?
THE PIN SHOW 2014
Top: BCBG, Necklace: Old Similar, Bracelet: HRH Collection, Skirt: Similar, Lipstick: MAC
The Pin Show is an annual event that focuses mainly on Independent Fashion Designers here in Dallas. It started 7 years ago with about 100 attendees and now has a strong following from the who’s who of Dallas fashion. The Good Year Plant was transformed into a local style mecca hosting close to 1,000 fashion lovers this year.
There were over 150 looks (I’ve included my absolute favorites), live music and sponsors including Stilla. One highlight of the night was a surprise marriage proposal between design partners Aldo Sandoval and Annie Barrientos of Sandbarri! The crowd went wild and she said yes!
I ended the night at the The Candle Room after party hosted by the ever impeccable and gracious Jackson Fluent of Fluent Dallas. Energy there mimicked that of the fashion show! Champagne flowed, models danced and we all had such glitzy times!
Happy Monday Bling Lovers!
HARVESTED CROP
Top/Skirt/Shoes: Similar/Necklace/Sunglasses/Clutch/Bracelet: Similar/Lipstick: Lady Danger/Ring/Nail Polish
It’s been almost a year since I first heard of this whole crop top craze. This was me “No way am I doing that. My mid drift made its final appearance in the 00s”. This was before I realized that when paired with a high waisted skirt one gets a slivering peep instead of a full on show.
Note to self… Crop tops + High waisted anything = classy and chic.
Or when that fails I can just blame it on the Texas heat. A girls’ gotta stay cool.
Happy Monday 🙂
